Born in Porto Alegre, Brazil, I am an unusual combination between Germans by the paternal side and Japanese by the mother's side. A son of immigrants who survived famine and war, I also received a culture of love for images and narrative thanks to my father, movie theater/cultural center owner.

Influenced by the silent films of Chaplin and Harold Lloyd on one side and by Japanese Manga and games on another, at the age of 13, already with the intent of ​​becoming a professional, I illustrated my first book, a children's story written by children's author Caio Riter ('Pra Lá e Pra Cá'. Publisher: WS Editora).

 

In 2010, I held my first solo exhibition, 'Jogos de Desenho' (Drawing Games), at Casa de Cultura Mario Quintana's Gallery (Porto Alegre, RS).

In 2013 I illustrated my first children's book (as a professional), "Fidalgo, Finório e Firula", written by Letícia Möller and released at the 59th Book Fair of Porto Alegre.

 

I am now a fulltime freelance illustrator since 2011, working mainly for the advertising market, book illustration and others, with clients such as Unilasalle, RBS TV, Polar Beer (Anbev) and the Polish brand PG Wear. I also teach courses on illustration and art, at illustration schools.

Gaúcho nascido em Porto Alegre, sou filho de alemães pelo lado paterno e de japoneses pelo materno. Uma combinação inusitada, de imigrantes que sobreviveram à fome e à guerra e de uma cultura de amor à imagem e à narrativa trazida por meu pai, proprietário de cinema e centro cultural.

Influenciado pelo cinema mudo de Chaplin e Harold Lloyd por um lado e pelos mangás e games japoneses de outro, aos 13 anos, já com a ideia de me tornar profissional, ilustrei meu primeiro livro, uma história infantil criada pelo autor de livros infantis Caio Riter (Pra Lá e Pra Cá, WS Editora).

Cursei a faculdade de Artes Visuais na UFRGS, ganhando o título de Bacharel em 2008 e em 2010, realizei minha primeira exposição individual, 'Jogos de Desenho', na galeria Augusto Meyer da Casa de Cultura Mario Quintana (Porto Alegre, RS).

Em 2013, lançei meu primeiro livro infantil (como profissional), "Fidalgo, Finório e Firula" (Ed. Libretos), escrito pela Letícia Möller, na 59ª Feira do Livro de Porto Alegre.

Atualmente sou ilustrador autônomo, profissional desde 2011 e trabalho para o mercado publicitário, editorial e diversos outros, com clientes como Unilasalle, RBS TV, Cerveja Polar e a marca polonesa PG Wear. Atuo também como professor de ilustração e arte, em escolas voltadas para o mercado da ilustração.
